Hidden Paradise: Seram Island, Indonesia’s Best-Kept Secret

Seram Island, situated in the Maluku archipelago of Indonesia, is a well-kept secret offering a hidden gem waiting to be explored. The exquisite Ora Beach Resort on this island boasts panoramic views reminiscent of Bora Bora, and the majority of the island remains relatively untouched by the masses.

If you’re seeking a secluded paradise adorned with lush jungles, towering mountains, pristine beaches, and an abundance of wildlife, then Seram Island is undoubtedly one of the finest destinations in Indonesia.

Reaching Seram Island, and specifically Ora Bay, may not be the easiest journey, but the breathtaking landscapes and the opportunity for crowd-free snorkeling make it all worth it. You won’t encounter the typical tourist hordes found in places like Bali.

Seram Island is located near the bustling island of Ambon in the Maluku region of Indonesia. Getting there involves several steps and a bit of an adventure.

Presently, Seram Island lacks an active airport for direct flights. The nearest airport is Pattimura International Airport in Ambon (AMQ), which offers direct flights from Jakarta, Makassar, Ternate, Sorong, and various other locations within Indonesia. You can search for flight options on Skyscanner.

Upon your arrival in Ambon, a taxi will be your mode of transport for the one-hour journey from the airport to the ferry port in Tulehu. Here, you’ll board a fast ferry headed for Amahai Port on Seram Island. Although these boats are older, they offer a comfortable ride, and the journey takes approximately two hours to reach Amahai.
