Dear Zaguline, As you’ve seen on my Instagram stories, I treated myself to a second romantic escape in beautiful Venice last weekend. I must admit that I’ve rarely been pampered as much as I was in the incredible The Gritti Palace, a luxurious hotel part of The Luxury Collection. Located in Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, at the heart of the magnificent city on water, this hotel delivered unforgettable experiences for the second time, alongside my beloved Charlie, who was equally enthralled by this romantic, comfortable, and elegant getaway. Among the 82 rooms, including 21 sumptuous suites within The Gritti Palace, we were graciously accommodated in an incredible Suite on the second floor. The hotel’s exquisite decor, oozing Italian elegance in every detail, was promptly reflected in the spacious room with a view of the Grand Canal. The room boasted Venetian-style interiors and a truly privileged position, offering stunning views of the Grand Canal. The eighteenth-century paintings, baroque touches throughout, and valuable art pieces added to the overall charm of The Gritti Palace. Exquisite Oriental antique carpets and sumptuous Venetian traditions, such as embroidered pillows, enhanced the room’s elegance. The impeccable room service allowed us to relish breakfast while gazing out at the Grand Canal—a peaceful and truly unique experience. The hotel staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, ensuring we had a wonderful stay. The Gritti Palace is a genuine ode to Venice, its history, and its traditions. Venturing through the hotel’s decorated corridors, we reached the fragrant Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Spa, a private retreat for guests. Intrigued by tales of The Gritti Palace’s cuisine, we indulged in a perfect breakfast on The Gritti Terrace, a large terrace extending over the Grand Canal. The menu featured delicious dishes made from seasonal produce in an incredible atmosphere with breathtaking views. Not only were we inquisitive about the cuisine, but we also uncovered numerous fascinating anecdotes about The Gritti Palace. Countless distinguished figures were not just guests; they found a second home where they wrote, composed, and created in serenity, surrounded by various forms of art. The Gritti Palace has been a source of inspiration for renowned authors like Hemingway and a haven for great actors. It’s virtually a Hall of Fame, and the thought that I, too, stayed in this magnificent place fills my heart with a unique warmth. Adored by some of the greatest artists, cinematographers, and art collectors, such as the legendary Peggy Guggenheim, the hotel has hosted numerous extraordinary individuals. Notably, Hemingway wrote his incredible novel, ‘Across the River and into the Trees,’ during his stay here. The Stones of Venice, penned by the illustrious John Ruskin, is another testament to the hotel’s prestigious history. The remarkable location allowed us to explore Venice, visit museums, and witness its iconic bridges. We strolled through charming alleyways, taking in the city’s unique traditions. The Gritti Palace also offers guests an original and unforgettable excursion in the Venice Lagoon aboard a luxurious Riva—a truly exceptional experience. The hotel is an ode to Venice, its traditions, history, uniqueness, and elegance. We’ll return soon for another perfect holiday!
