Nowadays, the boundaries of art have expanded beyond traditional forms like painting and sculpture. Artistry can be found in various domains, including fashion design. The creations showcased during fashion shows, with their audacious, egoistic, surreal, and intricate designs, can be considered works of art. The models who showcase these creations serve as the frames that envelop the designer’s artwork. Each designer, like a painter, crafts their masterpiece.
OVS has introduced “Arts of Italy,” a project aimed at raising awareness about the preservation and promotion of Italy’s cultural treasures. This ingenious concept celebrates Italy as the global cradle of art and the epitome of “Made in Italy.” The project is a homage to Italian art, especially the lesser-known masterpieces. Part of the proceeds from this initiative will be used for the restoration of Italy’s artistic heritage.
The collection is truly awe-inspiring, as it interprets Italy’s artistic heritage through its intricate details. Each garment is linked to a specific artistic legacy, making it a limited edition with exquisite printed dresses. OVS has consistently been at the forefront of innovative ideas, addressing both style and substance. Several notable figures have endorsed this initiative, including actors such as Alessandro Preziosi, Silvio Muccino, and the Italian composer Giovanni Allevi, who directed the world premiere of “Under the Same Sky” in honor of the launch of OVS Arts of Italy.
I had the privilege of selecting some garments from this collection, specifically those that resonated with my style. I curated two remarkable outfits, which exude an airy, distinctive, and chic vibe. The first jacket pays tribute to the San Pietro di Tuscania Church, featuring an unstructured design in white macramé with three-quarter sleeves and a round neck, inspired by the roses in front of the church. Under the jacket, I chose a T-shirt dedicated to the Salerno Dome, with an oversized round neck and decorations inspired by the floor mosaics. I paired it with a stunning Salerno Dome full skirt, also drawing inspiration from the mosaic floors.
My second outfit features a mosaic jacket inspired by Galla Placidia and a jersey bomber with ornate decorations. To complement the jacket, I opted for off-light-blue pants, offering a simple yet elegant look.
Every piece is exceptionally beautiful, but I was particularly captivated by the exquisite mosaic-inspired embroidery adorning the garments. Galla Placidia of Ravenna, the Salerno Dome, and the S. Pietro di Tuscania Church represent spectacular artworks located in three different cities and regions that deserve restoration. So, which artwork do you prefer?
